Throughout the chapter I realized that it provided many examples of what could be technology. For example, on page 11 of the textbook the author refers to a pencil and paper as a form of technology. I like the definition of technology in the book, it does not limit technology to only computers. Another thing that I liked in the chapter was the introduction to the chapter, which was the Case: Balancing Act, not only does it have humor but it’s also relatable. When I first registered for this course I was wondering what is IT 3210 and why do I need to take this course when I have already took a course about computers in High school and college.
Page 13 of the text states that students learn faster in computer based classroom and that students have more positive attitudes towards classrooms with computer based instruction. I personally agree and disagree with this statement. I do believe that people learn faster in classroom with technology because it keeps me more alert and active in the course. On the other hand I don’t believe that computer based classrooms always give people a more positive attitude towards classes. I have personally been in classes that included a large amount of technology that intimidated the students instead of motivated them. Overall technology can be very beneficial. Not only can it connect people to one another in various ways;Technology can also help students with disabilities. Many students with disabilities can connect with other students in the classroom and also give them an understanding of a lesson as illustrated in the following video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0U7m6UtQ1E . I don't think there is any reason for anyone to fear technology especially when it can be so helpful. Why Fear Technology? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbhBAvhZ72c
Nice job, I like how you mention that the use of technology can help student with disabilites. Its nice that you took the time to think about students with disabilities and not over look them.I also like the youtube video you posted, it was very informative.
